Noise [WIP]
[ In active development ] Every interruption, a bird song instead. This seven-day score turns an illustrative pattern of unwanted calls, spam email, and ad activity into a short listening experience. Press Play to hear the birdsong translation, or switch to Spam to hear the same schedule as synthesized tones.
Reading the score
Monday is the inner path; Sunday is the outer path. Midnight aligns at the top, and time moves clockwise around each day. Round coral marks represent illustrative call reports, blue slits represent an illustrative email spam share, and violet diamonds represent illustrative blocked ad requests.
Mark size uses a source-specific level from zero to four. These levels make three different measures legible on one score; they are not equivalent event counts or a measured total. The marks are hourly illustrations. Their small angular offsets separate symbols visually and do not imply precise timestamps.
All interruption values and their weekly pattern are deterministic and synthetic. They are not FTC complaint observations, Cloudflare Radar measurements, or measured advertising exposure. Birdsong mode layers credited excerpts; Spam mode is a generated interpretation, not recordings of the original interruptions. The particle sphere and ivory trace respond to actual playback audio.
Recordings: wood thrush (XC105133), black-capped chickadee (XC121068), and American goldfinch (XC124312), recorded by Jonathon Jongsma. Excerpts are selected, shortened, gain-shaped, and layered.
